When we purchased Redback Kneepads we knew that they would be a winner. After all we read the reviews and what came out of them were some great positives:

There were a few negatives too.

Some people thought they were too short, some too big, some too heavy, and some say they moved around too much.

The beauty is that they can be cut to the size you like them – and that you have options to wear strapped or pocket kneepads. Or even to use the kneeler mat instead. You’ve got the option to use the product that’s right for your work practice and your comfort. McAlpine Kneepads have been created by working with tradespeople. Heating engineers, plumbers, joiners, sparks, roofers, carpet fitters and kitchen fitters. All of you who have to work on your knees for lengthy periods.

The award-winning Redbacks technology is groundbreaking.

But, the bottom line, for us, is what tradespeople think about our product, and here are some reviews.

I’m a plumber and I honestly can say I’ve tried every type going. This product is the best out there, I bought my first pair back in 2013 and I’ve only had to buy 2 more since then. I use them every day. Brilliant product and don’t half save your knees. I really do notice the difference between these and your cheaper ones.”

“Not cheap but worth every penny. Being over 50 my knees do feel it….these pads really do work. A bit bulky and you do need to make sure your knee lands on the pad but in spite of these matters I thoroughly recommend…just rewired a house and really noticed the difference. Other insert knee pads just do not give the same level of cushioning.”

“I’ve been using these for a few months now and won’t be going back to using the foam ones. Although slightly more expensive than most knee pads you will feel the difference straight away. its like kneeling on little clouds of joy all day.”

“I purchased these knee pads hoping they were as good as advertised. I have a replacement knee and one waiting to be replaced. What a relief, so comfortable so glad i went with these.”

Joe has been working for twenty years now. He’s just coming up to his 40th birthday.

He can’t believe how fast it has gone. One minute he was an apprentice, and for the last ten years he’s been running his own business.

He’s always been a bit of a perfectionist, but that’s what has got him repeat and referred work.

One thing he wished was that he’d started to wear knee pads a long time ago. He had to give up 5’s a wile back. His knees just couldn’t take it anymore.

The knees are sore most days but he has to live with it. After all, he doesn’t have a load of money left at the end of each month, so he can’t afford to take time off, not with the family holiday coming up, and prices rising everywhere.

If only he had done something earlier, then he wouldn’t be so worried about the future.

‘IF ONLY’ – is a phrase that many in the trades will say. “If only I had listened….’. ‘If only I’d bought better tools…’. ‘If only I’d bought the new van earlier….’. Life and work is full of ‘If onlys’.

We’re on a mission to stop people say ‘if only’…when it comes to their knees.

So don’t be a Joe!

Think about your 5’s career. Think about going to theme parks with the family. Think about being able to work for as long as you want to. Just think, and buy the kneepads that support you, and will let you do all of those things that Joe can’t do.

For those geeks out there who want to know everything about the technology – here you are:

The technology is all about the leaf spring – this is specially moulded and suspended in an arch by a flexible honeycomb matrix. When pressure is applied directly above the spring it bends, dispersing pressure and distributing weight evenly. (i.e no one pain point). The matrix provides a holding structure for the spring to control its bend and stabilise the entire structure, allowing pressure to be distributed evenly time after time. The technology and product has no memory so it always goes back to the original state.

Think about memory foam – it is being forced into a shape and that shape does not go back to its original shape – then the foam will stop supporting you – its true on bed mattresses as much as on kneepads. For it to be long lasting a product needs to return to its original shape. Differing from basic foams such as PU and EVA, which provide limited cushioning by air pockets that collapse relatively quickly, Redbacks Cushioning Technology ultimately performs at a higher cushioning rate for longer, enabling you to work harder for longer in greater comfort.

The product honeycomb and leaf spring is made from TPE, a polymer blend or compound which, above its melt temperature, exhibits a thermoplastic character that enables it to be shaped into a fabricated article and which, within its design temperature range, possesses elastomeric behaviour without cross-linking during fabrication. Easy for us to say!

This process is reversible and the products can be reprocessed and remoulded.

It is fully Waterproof – great if you are in a wet area or there is water on the floor. Even the covers on the strap knee pads are waterproof which gives some protection to trousers if worn over trousers. The fabric is fully breathable so that heat is dissipated. It also stops chafed knees and infections.

The strapped kneepads use articulated hinge straps taking mens hairy legs into account – many competitors have shorter straps which can bite in and the material can trap leg hairs. The velcro on the strap version is low velcro for stopping plastering dust from clogging on them. They also have a quick release buckle.

On the Kneeler it has a slip proof fabric on the base and waterproof penetration protection with a neoprene cover designed for comfort. Because it’s waterproof it is also great in the garden, so get weeding!
